Unless the state legislature miraculously approves a budget with funding for the RTA soon, the CTA is going to cut service and hike up fares on September 16th. Since I started taking the CTA back in 1998, fares have almost tripled due to insufficient funding. Fares on Metra have gone up 30% since then. This has been the longest week ever. I worked 10 hours every day, except for Friday, when my manager finally let me go home early. If you add in my commute time, that's another three hours, making thirteen hours or more total every day.
